The area around Casa Fontelheira
The romantic and idyllic town of Guimaraes was Portugal’s original capital. Porto is famous for its port-wine cellars. There are various nature reserves listed on the UNESCO world heritage site, and the Douro route leads to the extensive vineyards. Northern Portugal has a wealth of sights. A stay at Casa Fontelheira is the perfect opportunity for enjoying the breath-taking Portuguese landscape and culture.
A new cycling path has recently been constructed near the Casa Fontelheira holiday home, stretching some 35 kilometres between Arco de Baulhe and Amarante. Casa Fontelheira also provides bikes for its guests.
When you walk downhill from Casa Fontelheira, you will get to the Tamega river. The Tamega flows through the North of Portugal and into the famous Douro river. The Tamega features various Praia Fluvials. These are small natural beaches where you may swim.
Both inside the house and outside you may of course make use of our Wi-Fi.
In the months of July, August and September there are plenty of Festas everywhere. These are local festivals which are a real sight to see. The music and fireworks will continue deep into the night..
In our holiday home you will find a folder containing a treasure trove of information.
